About CDLP

Tools for racial justice and social change.

Vision

THE CENTER FOR DIVERSITY IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION at the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law brings together students, professors, lawyers, organizers, and community members who seek to use the law and the legal profession as tools for racial justice and social change. We study issues of race in law, legal education, and legal practice and seek to build equity, knowledge, access, and power in partnership with those who have been historically underserved by the law. We mentor, train, and empower marginalized students as they become the next generation of people’s lawyers.

ABOUT

CUNY LAW

CUNY Law School is a national leader in progressive legal education with a dual mission of training a diverse group of students to become excellent public interest attorneys and providing access to the profession for members of historically underrepresented communities. As part of its mission, the Law School prepares students to practice "Law in the Service of Human Needs," and to transform the practice of law and legal education to make it more inclusive and just. We are the most diverse law school on the East Coast and the top-ranked law school in the country for clinical legal education.
